Steel/vinyl swimming pools offer a wide choice of shapes, sizes and liners, with accessories such as cantilevered stone coping, waterfalls and diving docks. Galvanized steel walls form the shape of the pool, and are held in place by a concrete “collar”. The pool bottom also receives a two- to three-inch layer of concrete topped by a “smooth coat” or finished layer of grout. Then, a PVC vinyl waterproofing membrane, or liner, finishes the inside of the pool. Finish coping sets the pool seamlessly into its deck and surroundings.

The vinyl liner has a lifespan of approximately 15 to 20 years, and can be recycled and replaced.

A less expensive alternative to gunite pools, steel/vinyl swimming pools can easily be installed within a week.
